David Hinojosa is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Studies. While at The University of Texas, Mr. Hinojosa studied tuba with Steven Bryant and performed with The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, University Orchestra and Longhorn Band. At UT, he was fortunate enough to have studied instrumental conducting with Dr. Damon Talley, Dr. Scott Hanna, Professor Glen Richter and Professor Gerhardt Zimmermann.

Mr. Hinojosa currently teaches beginner low brass and percussion and conducts the Symphonic Band. Mr. Hinojosa’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon.

Mrs. Michelle DeVall graduated with a Master of Music and Human Learning degree from the University of Texas at Austin in spring 2016 and is starting her second year as an Assistant Band Director at Kealing Middle School. She has also worked in the the Del Valle Independent School District as an Assistant Band Director and in the Leander Independent School District as a Band Tech and Private Lessons Teacher. Mrs. DeVall actively participates in the the education research community having recently presented papers at the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Annual Clinic/Convention and the 2017 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting.

Prior to starting graduate school, Mrs. DeVall was the Director of Bands at Three Oaks Middle School in Fort Myers, Florida. Under her direction, the band program doubled in size and earned high ratings at Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments. She has served in various leadership positions including: the Executive Board for the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association Solo and Ensemble Committee, and the Lee County School District (Florida) Advisory Council.

Mrs. DeVall received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Florida State University. She holds professional memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota.

Sabrina Grounds graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Music Studies. At the University of Texas, she studied clarinet under Professor Nathan Williams and performed with the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Steel Pan Ensemble, Basketball Band, and Longhorn Band. She studied wind band conducting under Dr. Damon Talley, Dr. Scott Hanna, Professor Glen Richter, and Professor Gerhardt Zimmerman.

Before coming to Kealing, Mrs. Grounds taught band and orchestra for Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland. She is very excited to be a part of the Kealing Middle School band family!
