David Hinojosa is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Studies. While at The University of Texas, Mr. Hinojosa studied tuba with Steven Bryant and performed with The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, University Orchestra and Longhorn Band. At UT, he was fortunate enough to have studied instrumental conducting with Dr. Damon Talley, Dr. Scott Hanna, Professor Glen Richter and Professor Gerhardt Zimmermann.

Mr. Hinojosa currently teaches beginner low brass and percussion and conducts the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. Mr. Hinojosa’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon.

Assistant Director, Michelle DeVall

Michelle DeVall teaches the Symphonic Band, Beginning Horn, Beginning Trumpet, and Beginning Double Reed classes. Under her direction, the Symphonic Band has earned top ratings at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations. She has previously worked in Del Valle ISD as an Assistant Band Director and Leander ISD as a Band Tech and Private Lessons Teacher.

Prior to moving to Texas, Mrs. DeVall was the Director of Bands and Guitar at Three Oaks Middle School in Fort Myers, Florida. Under her direction, the band program doubled in size and earned high ratings at Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments. She has served in various leadership positions including: the Executive Board for the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association Solo and Ensemble Committee, and the Lee County School District (Florida) Advisory Council. She is currently serving as the National Association for Music Education-Texas (NAfME-Texas) Advocacy Chair and as the Texas state representative on the NAfME Advocacy Leadership Force.

Mrs. DeVall received a Master of Music and Human Learning Degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Florida State University. She holds professional memberships in the Texas Bandmasters Association and Texas Music Educators Association.


Assistant Director, Sabrina Grounds

Sabrina Grounds teaches the Concert Band, Beginning Flute, Beginning Clarinet, and Beginning Saxophone classes. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Music Studies. At the University of Texas, she studied clarinet under Professor Nathan Williams and performed with the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Steel Pan Ensemble, Basketball Band, and Longhorn Band. She studied wind band conducting under Dr. Damon Talley, Dr. Scott Hanna, Professor Glen Richter, and Professor Gerhardt Zimmerman.

Before coming to Kealing, Mrs. Grounds taught band and orchestra for Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland. She is very excited to be a part of the Kealing Middle School band family!
